Web Development
Eight Octave redesigned AncientFaces.com after several years of being "married" to unsatisfactory programmers.
By redesigning the look of the site, streamlining the way users browsed photos, and adding new revenue
services (like personalized genealogy websites) AncientFaces.com's traffic doubled almost overnight.
Also, by redesigning the site in a new framework AncientFaces LLC was able to save over $1000 a month
in hosting costs.
Online Application Development
Eight Octave built a new service for AncientFaces.com called "Family Spaces". This site plugin allows users
to pay a fee to have their own family website, allowing them to collect their uploaded photos into albums online,
and share them with their family and friends. The service was an instant hit.
Search Engine Optimization
By reorganizing the site's photo listings to centralize free research assets by surname, Eight Octave was able to
help AncientFaces capture visitors who were searching for family history relating to their family. This and other
improvements now account for a significant amount of AncientFaces' traffic.
Graphic Design & Identity
Eight Octave designed the website, but they were also responsible for the "AncientFaces Family Photo" that was sent
out to users who donated. Receiving a digitally-aged photo containing a picture of the AncientFaces.com staff (warmly referred
to as the "AncientFaces Family") became
a major incentive - and a great pleasure - for donors.
Eight Octave's decision to personalize the staff's relationship with the community strengthened the image
of the site as a place where families meet and share their history.
